Welcome to the official website of the New Midway Volunteer Fire Company. We were established in 1926 to provide fire protection services to New Midway and surrounding areas. We are one of the few 100% Volunteer Fire Companies in Frederick County.


New Midway is accepting sealed bids for Skid Unit

New Midway Vol. Fire Co. is accepting sealed bids for their 1997 Skid Unit. It has a 500 GPM Hale pump with 250 Gallon water tank, and it has a 4 inch intake, a 2.5 intake, two 2.5 discharges, two crosslays that hold up to 150 feet of 1.5 hose, and 200 foot booster line. For more information contact the station at 301-898-0543

Members from New Midway receive awards at FCVFRA awards Ceremony

On April 19, 2010 two members from New Midway Fire Company were recognized for their service that they provide to the community. The first award recipient Emma Main was awarded Hall of Fame for the county, she was unable to attend the awards ceremony fortunately Judy White brought the award to New Midway and  graciously presented her with the award at our Fire Company meeting. And the second award recipient Melanie Cooley was was awarded the James H. Stavely III fire prevention award. The officers and members of New Midway Vol. Fire Co. are very proud of both of them and would like to thank them for their service that they provide to the community.

Box Alarm 9-2 10202 Oak Hill Road

Early Sunday afternoon, Box Alarm 9-2 was sounded for a barn fire at 10202 Oak Hill Road. Chief 16 was the first unit on the scene with a 80x400 barn fully involved he quickly established command and requested a tanker task force. Engine 91 was the first arriving engine company, they performed a forward lay to the scene and started defensive fire suppression operations. There was multiple attack lines in service and ladder pipe operations. Draft sites were established at New Midway  station fire pond and another location close to the scene. There were reports of about 170 cows inside the barn at the time of the fire, and about 60 made it out. The estimate of damage was reported to be around $750,000. A firefighter from New Midway VFC. was transported to FMH for chest pains  by Ambulance and later discharged. Multiple fire companies from Frederick and Carroll operated well into the evening.

Engine Tanker On Building Fire In Emmitsburg
Saturday, April 3, 2010

Early Saturday morning, Box Alarm 6-1 was sounded for an apartment fire with reports of people trapped at 2 East Main Street Emmitsburg. Engine Tanker 94 was dispatched on the Tanker Task Force, to assist Company 6 ( Vigilant Hose Co. ) The Engine Tanker responded with a crew of 5 along with the Chief. Once the Engine Tanker  arrived the crew assisted with fire suppression operations and water supply. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt and all of the residents made it out safely. The 150 year old building housed numerous apartments and Stavros Pizza on the basement level.
