Early Sunday afternoon, Box Alarm 9-2 was sounded for a barn fire at 10202 Oak Hill Road. Chief 16 was the first unit on the scene with a 80x400 barn fully involved he quickly established command and requested a tanker task force. Engine 91 was the first arriving engine company, they performed a forward lay to the scene and started defensive fire suppression operations. There was multiple attack lines in service and ladder pipe operations. Draft sites were established at New Midway station fire pond and another location close to the scene. There were reports of about 170 cows inside the barn at the time of the fire, and about 60 made it out. The estimate of damage was reported to be around $750,000. A firefighter from New Midway VFC. was transported to FMH for chest pains by Ambulance and later discharged. Multiple fire companies from Frederick and Carroll operated well into the evening.
